Economic Impact

    The cost of The Titanic in all facets of its building and use was astronomical.  The plan was to profit from this venture but instead due to the crash all of that and possibly more went out the window. 

Cost of a ticket (one way)
    -First Class (parlor suite) $4,350 ($83,200 today)
    -First Class (berth) $150 ($2975 today) 
    -Second Class $60 ($1200 today) 
    -Third Class $40 ($298 to $793 today)

Onboard Costs:
- If you wanted to send a wireless message aboard Titanic, it would have cost $3.12.
-If you wanted to play a game of squash, $.50. 
-Use of the Turkish bath was $1.00.
Cost of Building:
Cost of the Titanic (in 1912): $7,500,000
Cost to build Titanic today: over $400,000,000


Workers Wages:
   -Skilled shipyard workers in Ireland who built Titanic would have earned £2 ($10) per week. '
    -Unskilled shipyard workers earned £1 or less per week.

-Captain Edward James Smith earned about $72,500 per year (in today's standards).
-While a steward earned as little as $2,400 per year.


Destruction caused incredible losses
    -Mainfest of items onboard the ship
    -Incredible amounts of valubles were lost at sea when the Titanic sank, 
    this is largely due to the wealth of many passengers onboard.
